Khruangbin’s Headline Show at Gunnersbury Park in London
Khruangbin’s headline show at Gunnersbury Park felt like an ideal way to spend a summer night in London. The Houston trio, whose name comes from the Thai word for “airplane,” brought their signature mix of laid-back grooves and global influences to West London, and the crowd was more than ready to float along.
The bill was stacked. TV on the Radio reminded everyone why they remain one of Brooklyn’s most iconic bands, delivering a set that raised the energy before the headliners took the stage. When Khruangbin walked out around 9:10 PM, the park was buzzing.
They opened with tracks from their latest album, transitioning from “A Love International” into“Pon Pón.” “Hold Me Up (Thank You)” stood out as a highlight. From there, they moved through fan favorites like “So We Won’t Forget” and “Evan Finds the Third Room,” closing the night with “Time (You and I)” and “People Everywhere (Still Alive).”
What made the set memorable was the way Laura Lee, Mark Speer, and Donald Johnson played off each other. Their chemistry transformed a large outdoor show into something that felt surprisingly intimate. With clear skies, a relaxed crowd, and a band at the top of their game, Khruangbin delivered a performance that captured everything you could want from a summer evening.
