A Long-Awaited Night: Mumford and Sons Live at the Hydro in Glasgow
Mumford & Sons played a sold-out show at the OVO Hydro on 2nd December 2025. This was my first time seeing them live, so I was really looking forward to the opportunity. I had also been excited to catch Sierra Ferrell, but unfortunately, due to traffic, I missed her set.
Mumford & Sons took to the stage at 9 p.m., opening with Run Together from their unreleased album Prizefighter, which is due out in February. They also played Rubber Band Man from the upcoming album before moving into their hit song Little Lion Man. It was great to hear live, and even though it played while we were leaving the photo pit, it was still an amazing experience.
The stage setup was one of my favourite parts of the performance. A massive, layered circular light structure hung above the stage, displaying stars, flowers, and hearts that lit up beautifully throughout the set. Rows of fairy lights stretched the length of the Hydro, adding even more atmosphere.
Later in the set, Sierra Ferrell was welcomed back on stage to perform Here, another unreleased track which features Chris Stapleton. Even though this was the only song I managed to catch from her, she didn’t disappoint, and I look forward to hopefully seeing her properly in the future.
The B-stage was also a great addition to the show. In large arenas like the OVO Hydro, the atmosphere can sometimes feel a bit flat, and it’s easy to feel detached from the performance. The B-stage helped keep the crowd engaged, changed the pacing of the show, and gave more fans a better view. Songs such as Ghosts That We Knew, Rushmere, and The Boxer (by Simon & Garfunkel) were performed there before the band made their way back through the crowd for the encore.
The encore included a crowd-led performance of the national anthem Flower of Scotland, during which Mumford & Sons raised the Saltire, bringing an incredible show toward its close. They finished the night with I Will Wait and Conversation With My Son (Gangsters & Angels).
