WSTR Turn O2 Academy Into a Pop Punk Playground for SKWRD’s 10-Year Anniversary
Sunday night saw WSTR celebrate the 10-year anniversary of their SKWRD EP in the O2 Academy's second room. WSTR delivered an unforgettable performance that perfectly encapsulated what a pop punk show should be. The atmosphere was electric, thanks in part to inflatable rat costumes and a blow up balls, creating a delightful chaos that set the tone for the evening.
Frontman Sammie truly shined, showcasing his charisma and energy throughout the night. As fans were eager to hear them perform in full. However, it was the antics that followed that really had the crowd buzzing - the playful game of aiming balls at Sammie added a layer of fun, keeping everyone engaged from the very start.
One of the most lovable aspects of WSTR is their ability to embrace the unpolished and imperfect nature of their music. This authenticity is what makes their shows a pleasure to watch live. With a 19 song strong setlist with only one of the anthems slowing the pace, they showed exactly how to make a half sold room feel sold-out.
Fan favourites like “Crisis” and “Filthy” had the crowd singing along, proving that WSTR knows how to hold attention. Sunday night’s gig was not just a concert; it was a celebration of pop punk spirit, chaos, and a whole lot of fun.
