Teddy Swims heads up blackweir

I had the immense privilege of capturing moments with the American singer-songwriter Teddy Swims at Blackweir Fields in Cardiff on June 26, 2026. The 33-year-old Grammy-nominated artist headlined the event at this iconic venue, which is most celebrated for accommodating up to 35,000 guests during large-scale outdoor performances. Blackweir Fields has welcomed notable acts like singers Lewis Capaldi, Noah Kahan, and Stevie Wonder, making it a potent and unforgettable location for music enthusiasts in the heart of Cardiff. Teddy Swims opened the evening with spectacular supporting performances by Lauren Spencer Smith and Jordan Rakei, whose heartfelt and authentic performances set an electric atmosphere for the night.

He commenced his set at 8:55 PM with "The Door," building anticipation that culminated in the crowd's exhilaration as he closed with the crowds favoured song "Lose Control," creating an unforgettable experience. Joined by his band Freaky Freely, Teddy immersed the audience with his authentic take on rich blend of soul, R&B, and pop. A particularly memorable moment was when he expressed gratitude for the warmth he received from Cardiff's crowd saying, "Thank you for making a little fat kid from Georgia feel so loved." The crowd responded with enthusiasm, enjoying a 20-song set that kept the peoples spirits high and bodies swaying to every note, beat and vocal the singer and his band assembled. He also took a moment to honour Pride Month, affirming that it's no one's business who we love or date, which was a touching tribute seeming as July is nearly approaching. Additionally, reflecting on Men's Health Week, which occurred from June 15 to June 21, he shared a poignant memory of a friend lost to suicide, creating an emotional connection that resonated deeply with people and enhanced the sense of community in the space. It was an extraordinary night, and I highly recommend experiencing Teddy Swims live if you have the opportunity. His commitment to his craft and his fans is truly remarkable, leaving you with an everlasting impression of the singer's ability to connect with the crowd at a more deeper and personal level is astonishing.
