Mac DeMarco at Aviva Studios In Manchester

Mac DeMarco at Aviva Studios has to be one of, if not my favourite gig I’ve photographed. With Mac being my favourite artist for the last 7-8 years, I knew it was going to be a great night. I’d previously seen Mac twice before, once in Paris and more recently in Berlin; yet I was still buzzing for this show in Manchester even though I have seen him perform before.

Tex Crick opened this night who is signed to Mac’s record label. This was my first time seeing Tex and I really enjoyed his set, and even had the privilege to talk and meet him after his set.

Mac came on stage at 9:15pm to a sold-out crowd. Opening his set with ‘Shining’ from his newest album ‘Guitar’, followed by ‘For the First Time’. Even through i’d seen Mac in Berlin two weeks prior, the setlist was still exciting with some songs I hadn’t heard previously, ‘The Stars Keep On Calling My Name’ ‘One More Love Song’ and ‘Nobody’.

He finished his 25 song set with ‘My Kind of Woman’ ‘Chamber of Reflection’ and ‘Nobody’ as his encore. Even though this was my third time seeing Mac DeMarco this night was my first photographing him which I never thought I would get the chance to, so this was a very surreal gig that i’ll never forget. I even got the chance to meet with Mac again after his concert in which he was nice enough to talk to me and sign a portrait I took of him in Berlin and keeping one of the photos I took for himself.
